Munisa Rustamova, a 37-year-old resident of B. Gafurov district and mother of two, worked in an office for many years. But in her spare time, she always enjoyed creating handmade jewelry — delicate, intricate pieces made from polymer clay that brought her joy and allowed her creativity to flourish.
Over time, Munisa realized that her hobby could become more than just a creative outlet — it could be a source of income. The turning point came when she reached out to the Microcredit Fund IMON. Through the Fund’s acceleration program under the USAID FGI project “Online Business Accelerator for Women and Youth” in 2024 Munisa completed courses in financial literacy and business planning, gaining valuable skills essential for entrepreneurship. The Fund’s experienced mentors became true guides for her, teaching her the fundamentals of business, how to develop a business plan, and how to build an initial customer base.
With the funds she received through the Islamic Banking Window of the Fund with special conditions, Munisa purchased high-quality materials and tools from Russia: professional polymer clay, cutters, molds, and everything she needed to launch her business.
Today, Munisa sells her products at exhibitions and fairs in Soghd region, Dushanbe city and districts of republican subordination. Her work quickly attracted attention — especially among international buyers who value originality and handmade craftsmanship.
As her business continued to grow, Munisa mastered a new technique: crafting jewelry from silver. Her brand is now recognized, her products are in demand, and her customer base continues to expand each month.
Munisa’s story is a vivid example of how talent, perseverance, and timely support can profoundly change a person’s life. It was this support that helped her turn a long-time passion into a sustainable business and build a brand into which she poured her heart and soul. Overcoming doubts and challenges, she took a brave step toward her dream and created a business of her own. Today, Munisa not only continues to grow her enterprise but also inspires other women to believe in themselves, start small, and embrace change. Her journey stands as a testament to the fact that every woman can succeed when there is support and belief in her potential.
An especially important aspect of Munisa’s journey is the gender perspective. In a society where women often face bias and limitations on their path to entrepreneurship, her success is living proof of how crucial it is to create equal opportunities and empower women in business. Munisa has overcome barriers shaped by social and gender stereotypes and has become a symbol of change.
The IMON Fund plays a key role in this process, actively supporting women entrepreneurs and helping them assert themselves confidently in both the economy and society.
