Zulaykho Odinaeva lives in the mountainous region of Mastchoh. Like many women in the village, she has a large family, and her life is filled with household duties.

One day, while attending a seminar organized by the "Imon" Foundation in Khujand, Zulaykho learned about the business acceleration program offered by the foundation. This program is part of the USAID Future Growth Initiative (FGI) project, titled "Online Business Accelerator for Women and Youth." The program provides women with the opportunity to gain knowledge, mentorship, and an interest-free loan based on Islamic principles under the “Karzi Hasana” program. The initiative aims to support women entrepreneurs, especially those living in rural areas who have limited access to traditional financing sources.

After returning home, Zulaykho shared what she had learned with her family. Her mother-in-law supported her idea of starting her own business: “You can work from home and earn money,” she said. This inspired Zulaykho. She was further motivated by the example of her father-in-law, an experienced beekeeper who had been practicing this craft for many years. He became her first mentor, patiently teaching her how to handle the hives, care for the bees, and harvest the honey.

Thanks to the Islamic "window" of the "Imon" Foundation, Zulaykho received her first interest-free loan and bought a bee colony, a tent, and the necessary equipment.

Less than a year later, she had 10 bee colonies. The honey—authentic, mountain honey—quickly found buyers. However, the greatest achievement for Zulaykho was her personal financial independence. For the first time in her life, she earned her own money, which she made by her own efforts.

But Zulaykho’s story does not end there. Her success inspired other women as well. She began to share her knowledge, teach, and help others believe in their own abilities. Many of her students never thought they could engage in beekeeping.

“I didn’t know if it would work or not,” says Zulaykho. “But if I hadn’t tried, I would never have known.”

Now, she looks confidently toward the future: she plans to expand her apiary, improve her equipment, and continue helping other women. Her story is more than the success of one family. It is an example of how sound gender policies, the support of women, and access to financial resources through programs like the "Imon" Foundation's accelerator and the USAID FGI project can transform entire communities.
